H. KHAI artist . this is a river scene which appears to
be in South Asia. The scene is a river scene with jungle and thatched village.
The painting is approximately 36 x 32 inches unframed done as oil on stretched
canvas. I checked internet and found an artist by this name selling through
private gallery for in excess of ten times my starting price ,and photo
on that listing appears to be same locale as this scene and done on smaller
canvas. There is a picture of the artist on that site and bio indicates
American circa 1925 , NOTE THERE IS A TEAR IN THE CANVAS WHICH CAN BE SEEN
AT THE LEFT OF THE PAINTING ON THE FAR LEFT HUT. THIS IS A PUNCTURE FROM
THE BACK IN A 'L'SHAPE 3 X 3 INCH WITH AN EXTENSION OF 1 INCH FROM THE
RIGHT ANGLE OUTWARDS . THIS SHOULD BE EASILY REPAIRABLE BY ART CONSERVATOR
I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN ANY INFORMATION ANYONE CAN PROVIDE ON THIS ARTIST
AND HIS WORK.
